Hi. Thanks for your note on the new user log. Glad you've decided to start contributing. Good luck, and drop me a note if you need anything. Isomorphic 22:08, 9 Apr 2004 (UTC)
Do you intend on expanding A.R.B. Shuttleworth? At present it consists of only the word "test" and will likely be deleted. Maximus Rex 17:26, 25 Apr 2004 (UTC)
- I'm deleting that article along with George Macartney, consul-general, which also contains only the text "test" and is credited to you. Please use Wikipedia:Sandbox for experiments. Or is someone else experimenting with your account? -- Infrogmation 17:54, 25 Apr 2004 (UTC)
You guys are quick. I'm doing some work on a series of pages related to central asian exploration and those were next on my list for today. I was taking care of some FTP issues at work and was going to get back to them later tonight. Just curious - I only did that this afternoon. How did you find them so quickly? Jmclean 22:38, 25 Apr 2004 (UTC)
- I found it through Special:Newpages, where the low file size made it stand out. Maximus Rex 16:00, 1 May 2004 (UTC)
Are you going to write something more at Serindian art? It's currently listed on Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/Serindian art because a single book reference isn't much of an article. Drop by VfD and say something to let us know your intentions. If you're on vacation or something and it gets deleted, don't worry—just reinsert it when you have about a paragraph of good, meaningful content to put there. I'm here to notify you that your page (article) on Sabir language is up for deletion. I feel you were attempting to make some sort of template with this rather than a full article. Please explain what exactly it is, so I may judge it better in a vote.
Also, congrats on your one year Wikianniversary. -- Riffsyphon1024 08:49, Apr 9, 2005 (UTC)

[edit]Please refrain from introducing inappropriate pages, such as Playhouse on the Square, to Wikipedia. Doing so is not in accordance with our policies. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you.
A tag has been placed on Playhouse on the Square, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. — Coren (talk) 01:26, 21 July 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Memphisseal.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Memphisseal.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Project FMF (talk) 02:16, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free media (Image:Memphisflag.jpg)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Memphisflag.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:02, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

Unreferenced BLPs
[edit]Hello Jmclean! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to insure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. if you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 2 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:
- Lawrence Shainberg - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL

File:Otani.jpg needs authorship information.
[edit]The media file you uploaded as File:Otani.jpg appears to be missing information as to its authorship (and or source), or if you did provide such information, it is confusing for others trying to make use of the image.
It would be appreciated if you would consider updating the file description page, to make the authorship of the media clearer.
Although some images may not need author information in obvious cases, (such where an applicable source is provided),authorship information aids users of the image, and helps ensure that appropriate credit is given (a requirement of some licenses).
- If you created this media yourself, please consider explicitly including your user name, for which:{{subst:usernameexpand|Jmclean}} will produce an appropriate expansion,
or use the {{own}} template.
- If this is an old image, for which the authorship is unknown or impossible to determine, please indicate this on the file description page.

It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Speedy deletion nomination of Motherjumpers
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Motherjumpers requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.
